The Emperor Claudius found out and like Valentine enjoyed great prestige in Rome, the emperor called the Palace. Valentine took that occasion to proselytize Christianity.
Although initially Claudius II showed interest, the army and the Governor of Rome, called Calpurnius, persuaded him to persuade her.
Emperor Claudius then gave orders that Valentine was imprisoned. Then, the officer Asterius, imprison manager, tried to ridicule and test Valentin. He challenged them to restore sight to his daughter, named Julia, who was born blind. Valentine agreed, and on behalf of the Lord restored his sight. This Asterius convulsed and his family, who converted to Christianity. Anyway, Valentine continued to jail and finally the weak Emperor Claudius ordered that he be tortured and executed February 14, 270.
